Biography

Paula has a tremendous capacity to participate in all different aspects of performance planning. On top of her musical and artistic capacities which are surely above average, allowing her to be a very competent and inspired artist, she always showed to be a reliable and proficient organizer, teacher and producer. She has a very well rounded cultural background, a deep thinking mind, and a very attentive perception of the needs of people around her.

BIOGRAPHY
Paula Rosado started playing piano at the age of 7 years old in Lisbon with Irene Tiago as teacher. In 1997, with the help of her teacher Maria Amélia Abreu, she enrolled the voice course at Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional (National Conservatory) in Lisbon. There she worked with Helena Pina Manique and Rute Dutra, finishing her studies in 2004. In that same year she was admitted to Roberta Alexander’s class at Codarts, Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. She got her bachelor’s degree in 2008 and worked further with Charlotte Riedijk until the end of 2010, time when she returned to her homeland, Portugal.
Paula attended several masterclasses by Claire Vangelisti, Carleen Graham, Isabel Alcobia, João Lourenço, Roberta Alexander, Carolyn Watkinson, Frans Huijts, Fred Jacobs and Marc Krone. She also follows choir conducting masterclasses by António Lourenço and Paulo Lourenço in Setúbal and Aveiro.
From 1994 to 2004 she sang with the choir Regina Coeli in Lisbon, which repertoire included “a capella” music (XVI to XX centuries) and symphonic choirs. During these years she worked with several conductors: António Lourenço, Paulo Lourenço, Vasco Pearce de Azevedo and Filipe Carvalheiro. She also performed in projects with the choir of Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, where she was conducted by Sir Colin Davis and Claudio Abbado. In the Netherlands, between 2004 and 2010, she worked with the Laurenscantorij and Laurens Bachcollegium from Rotterdam and Groot Omroepkoor from Hilversum, under the direction of conductors Wiecher Mandemaker, Barend Schuurman, Simon Halsey and Jaap van Zweeden.
In 1997 she collaborated in the recording of the CD “Os Melhores Coros Amadores da Região”, Lisboa, Vol. III.
Na ópera já foi Cherubino (“Le Nozze di Figaro”, W.A. Mozart), Donna Elvira (“Don Giovanni”, W.A. Mozart), Dorabella (“Così fan tutte”, W.A. Mozart), tendo colaborado com Cilia Hogerzeil nas produções “(Un)Dressed – A Singing Catwalk Show” e “Monologen van aankomst en vertrek”.
No estilo canção interpretou diversos compositores em concerto, dos quais se destacam Vianna da Motta, Francisco de Lacerda, Richard Strauss, Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Francis Poulenc e Claude Debussy.
Paula has performed in several theaters, including De Doelen in the Netherlands and the Teatro Aveirense in Portugal, as well as the Casino in Figueira da Foz and the National Palace in Mafra, among others, in collaboration with the Orchestras Filarmonia das Beiras, Banda Sinfónica da P.S.P and Filarmónica Cultural da Ericeira.
In opera she was Cherubino (“Le Nozze di Figaro”, W.A. Mozart), Donna Elvira (“Don Giovanni”, W.A. Mozart), Dorabella (“Così fan tutte”, W.A. Mozart), and worked with Cilia Hogerzeil in the productions “(Un)Dressed – A Singing Catwalk Show” and “Monologen van aankomst en vertrek”.
She also sings lied from Vianna da Motta, Francisco de Lacerda, Richard Strauss, Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Francis Poulenc and Claude Debussy, among other composers.
Paula has sung as choir member extensively, having in her repertoire Johannes Passion (Bach), Mathäeus Passion (Bach), Magnificat (Bach), B minor mass (Bach), La damnation de Faust (Berlioz), Messiah (Händel), Symphony n.º 2 in C minor (Mahler), Coronation mass (Mozart), Requiem (Mozart), Carmina Burana (Orff), Stabat Mater (Rossini), Gloria (Vivaldi). She has also performed small oratorio roles.
At the moment Paula Rosado sings solo concerts and is a teacher (voice, piano for beginners and music for children). She is also developing her career as music therapist.
She has a license degree in Management by Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão (ISEG) from Universidade Técnica de Lisboa and a master in Music therapy by Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa.
